Our menu has a good choice of starters and main courses to suit most tastes plus a selection of homemade desserts. 
The majority of the menu is created and cooked at Kirkby House ensuring you have that authentic home cooked taste. 
You can see a sample of our menus below.

Friday & Saturday Bistro Menu   Appetisers Artisan Bread and Olives (£2.50) per person Artisan Bread with Virgin Olive Oil, Mediterranean olives and Balsamic dip 

Chef’s Soup Of The Day (£4.95) 
Always fresh always homemade served with crusty bread (please ask for today’s choice). 
 
Whitebait (£6.95) 
Breaded North Sea Whitebait deep fried. Served 
with tartare sauce and a slice of lemon. 
 
Stilton Mushrooms (£6.95) 
Sauté closed cup mushrooms finished in a fresh creamy garlic stilton sauce with slices of stone baked baguette and a garnish of fresh leaves. 
 
Mexican Style Nachos (£4.95) 
Tortilla chips smothered with guacamole, salsa, jalapenos and grated mature cheddar served in its own unique griddle pan. 
Pate (£6.95) 
Smooth Duck and Orange pate complimented with caramelized red onion, fresh artisan bread and a salad garnish. 
 
Crayfish Platter (£7.95) 
Freshwater Crayfish tails and mixed leaves dressed with an ocean sauce served with slices of baguette. 
 
Garlic Bread (£4.95) with cheese (optional) 
Fresh stone baked baguette rubbed with garlic and oregano butter. 
 
 
 
Green Lip Mussels (£8.95) 
New Zealand green lipped mussels in half shell, garnished with a garlic cream and chardonnay sauce. 

Main Course 

Duck Breast (£17.95) 
Prime Gresham duck breast, seared in the pan, oven finished, sliced and drizzled with madeira and blackcurrant jus served with diced herby potatoes & seasonal vegetables. 
 
 
Kirkby House Porchetta (£14.95) 
Slow roasted seasoned boneless belly pork herb stuffing and smoked back bacon with slices of scottish style black pudding, mash, cider gravy & seasonal vegetables. 
 
Pan Seared Seabass (£16.95) 
A large prime fillet of Sea bass seared in a covered pan to preserve the texture, the flavour of the fish speaks for itself so we add only a little lemon butter, this dish comes with diced herby potatoes & seasonal vegetables. 
 
Prime Darn of Hake (£16.95) 
A fillet of Hake lightly poached and served with a rich creamy asparagus jus, served with diced herby potatoes and seasonal vegetables. 
 
Mexican Fajitas (£14.95) 
Pan fried fajitas seasoned chicken breast, jalapenos, mushrooms, mixed bell peppers and onion served in it's own pan. With soft tortillas, guacamole, salsa, cheese & soured cream. 
 
Linguine Carne (£12.95) 
Italian Durum Wheat pasta tossed in a Mediterranean sauce with chicken and pepperoni, mushroom, onions and peppers with grated parmesan. 
Millionaires Fish Pie (£12.95) 
Whole pieces of salmon, cod and smoked haddock in a rich white wine bechamel sauce with a hint of nutmeg. Topped with creamed potato and matured cheddar cheese baked in the oven until golden brown. Served with seasonal vegetables. 
 
Salmon & Prawn Mornay (£14.95) 
Filleted Scottish Salmon Steak and fresh water crayfish, parsley sauce, topped with mature cheddar and finished in the oven with a choice of side & seasonal vegetables. 
 
Chicken Italiano (£15.95) 
Breast of chicken stuffed with cheese and pepperoni, rolled in parma ham, glazed with mornay sauce, this comes with diced herby potatoes & seasonal vegetables. 
 
 
Linguine (£12.95) (V) 
Italian Durum Wheat pasta tossed in a Mediterranean sauce with mushroom, onions, sun dried tomato, olives and peppers. Dusted with parmesan. 
 
Tennessee Smokey Bourbon Chicken (£12.95) 
Tender pieces of chicken breast sautéed with peppers, mushroom, onion, sultanas & apple. Finished with a creamy smokey bourbon barbeque sauce. Your choice of side & seasonal vegetables. 
 
Frank’s Beef Chunky Cheese Lasagne (£11.95) 
Lasagne pasta sheets, covered in seasoned minced beef and a tomato puree topped with béchamel infused with oregano, smothered with cheddar. Finished with a mediterranean sauce. Your choice of side & seasonal vegetables.

A Thai-influenced burger with fresh lemon grass and lime leaf, mixed vegetables, coriander and chilli. Coated in a black onion, sesame and cumin seed crumb containing crunchy red lentils. 
 
Kirkby House Special Mexican Nachos Burger (+ £4) 
Two premium gourmet burgers with two slices of mature 
cheese, smokey bacon, jalapenos, nachos 
and a sweet chilli sauce. 
 

Chefs Hand Cut Steaks Beef prime cuts of 28 day matured dry aged steak. All steaks cooked to your liking. Served with onion rings and closed cup mushrooms.

Made by Frank, layers of choc chip brioche bread, soaked with home made custard, sultanas steeped in brandy, Morello cherry and a liquid lemon curd centre complimented with a jug of custard. 
 
Franks Homemade Jam Roly-Poly (£5.95) 
Fresh raspberry jam, and suet pastry served with Devon custard. 
 
 
 
Chocolate Salted Caramelised Cheesecake (£5.95) 
Crisp bourbon biscuit topped with dark chocolate vegan cheesecake and spiralled with salted caramel sauce, 
finished with a rich chocolate ganache. 
Hot Chocolate Dumpling (£5.95) 
Double chocolate sponge served in a cup drizzled with chocolate sauce, sprinkling of mini caramel cubes & served with Devon custard or a scoop of triple chocolate ice-cream. 
 
Chocolate Orange Cake (£6.95) 
A slice of orange sponge, generously coated in dark chocolate with soft orange fondant centre. 
 
 
New-York cheese cake (GF) (£5.95) 
A delicious, crunchy gluten free biscuit base topped with a classic New York style vanilla cheesecake 
and drizzled with mango coulis. 
 
Ice Cream Sundae (£5.95) 
Chocolate, strawberry, vanilla ice cream served with wafers and sprinkles. 
 
Stilton Cheddar Slate (£8.95) 
A stilton and mature cheddar platter served with a chutney, assorted crackers, apple, butter and greek olives. 
Liqueur Coffees, Frothy Latte's, Short Espresso, English and Herbal Tea's are available from our drinks menu to compliment your evening.
